The industrialist John Hughes of Merthyr Tydfil set up an ironworks in the Ukraine on invitation from the Imperial Russian Government in 1869. Join Susan Edwards, Glamorgan Archivist, as she tells the tale of John Hughes, his New Russia Company and the town and community that grew around it.

Following the talk there will be an opportunity to view items from the Hughesovka Research Archive.
