Currently we are unable to offer new volunteer or work experience placements. We will update this page when our situation changes.
If you are able to volunteer regularly for a whole day, a morning or an afternoon every week, we offer a chance of getting hands on experience of archive or conservation work.
Volunteers working at the Archives include university students along with retired people who have time to devote to helping the Archives, adding value to work produced by the staff through their local knowledge or particular skills.
Our volunteers are currently working on a range of projects including extracting information from records relating to the impact of World War One, creating an index to police photographic registers, cleaning and transcribing the crew agreements of ships registered in Cardiff and the creation of an electronic database of building plans to be made available in our public searchroom.
