Votes for Women

The 1918 Representation of the People Act extended the vote in parliamentary elections to some women. Women would wait a further ten years to for the right to vote equally with men, but this Act was a significant first step.  Our volunteers searched our records, extracting material relating to the campaign for Votes for Women and the role of the suffragists and suffragettes.
