The horrors of the First World War galvanised a generation against conflict, and in 1923 women of Wales organised an unprecedented appeal. The Women’s Peace Campaign of 1923 was a truly remarkable Wales-wide effort involving almost every household. In total, 390,296 women from Wales signed a petition calling for the United States to join and lead the new League of Nations.
Lowri and Jennifer from the project team will talk about the story behind the petition and the work currently underway to make its contents accessible to all.
Join us to discover more about the Peace Petition – and how you can get involved by volunteering to transcribe the names of the women from across Wales who signed it!
