Our Corporate Trainee Scheme offers a 6 month* paid Trainee role which is open to Cardiff residents, currently living or studying in Cardiff. As a Corporate Trainee, you will work within one of our service area teams to develop a variety of workplace skills, knowledge and experience in our large and varied organisation.
Glamorgan Archives is offering the opportunity to join them as a Corporate Trainee based in purpose-built accommodation at Leckwith.
In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of workplace skills and experience in an office environment, as well developing knowledge and understanding of the work and responsibilities of working in the cultural heritage environment.
Glamorgan Archives is the key body in the preservation of the written history of a large and populous region of South Wales. It provides a joint service to the City and County of Cardiff, the County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Caerphilly (for the former Rhymney Valley District Council area), Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The successful applicant will work within a busy office environment and help our team to look after 1000 years of written history. The skills you will develop include working with the public, digital photography, data entry, and document handling. There may be an opportunity to contribute to the Archives’ social media, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
As a Corporate Trainee, we will help and encourage you to develop skills that will support you with your future career. You will be encouraged to take on a wide range of administrative tasks, customer enquiries (telephone, email and face-to-face), and we will train you to you our IT systems. You will receive supervision, on the job training and support from a named mentor within the team, who will help you to develop. As Trainee, you will be developing to provide efficient administrative support in a positive, customer focused manner.
This post is temporary for 6 months for a full time employee or longer for a part time employee (pro rata).
